part of a UNDP (United Nations Development Program) funded project focused on
removing and recycling trees encumbering farming land parcels in the
Grand’Anse, our President Marie-Rose Romain Murphy was recently contracted as a
Community Engagement and Livelihoods Specialist in the communities of Dame
Marie and Abricots.
It was part of a recovery project designed to support regions in Haiti that were most affected by Hurricane. Although was not directly related to ESPWA, it leveraged our organization’s extensive Community Leaders Network in the Grand’Anse and contributed to community resiliency in areas of Haiti where help was desperately needed.
During
this project, Romain Murphy helped to recruit over 60 local community residents
who received a week of technical training.
These
teams worked with over 1,700 community workers and local farmers to help clear
farming land parcels and transform the trees removed in lumber that was later
donated to community residents and groups for community rebuilding projects.
